The joined up solution combines the waste management software, PurGo, supplied by VWS Software Solutions and ENVIROWEIGH bin weighing system from Vehicle Weighing Solutions.
The relationship between VWS Software Solutions and FCS Cleaning Ltd (FCS) began three years ago in 2017, when both businesses were competing against one another at the National Refuse Championships (NRC) – a charitable industry event which takes place annually in Weston-Super-Mare. Jamey Fitzgibon, (Operations Manager, FCS Cleaning Ltd) and Joe Barnes (Sales Director, VWS Software Solutions) met at the event and soon realised that the two companies could form a strong and beneficial partnership, with FCS specialising in waste removal services, and VWS Software Solutions providing the industry with waste management solutions. From competitors to business partners, together, the pair has formed a completely joined up waste solution to offer efficient waste removal services throughout the UK.
Originally a cleaning business, FCS Cleaning Ltd has a multitude of experience in providing companies with cleaning services and facilities management. Proud to be a family run company, they specialise completely in the commercial waste sector.
Shortly after their initial encounter at the National Refuse Championships, FCS met with both VWS Software Solutions, and their sister company, Vehicle Weighing Solutions (VWS), to view a demonstration of the waste management software, PurGo. Specialising in overload protection systems, underbody systems and bin weighing equipment, VWS are widely regarded as the UK market leader in onboard weighing systems. After speaking with another VWS customer at the NRC, Jamey completely understood the numerous benefits of having a trade approved weighing system installed on vehicles. With this in mind, he was interested in combining both PurGo and the trade approved bin weighing system ENVIROWEIGH (VWS), to create a seamlessly integrated solution for FCS Cleaning Ltd.
By April 2018, FCS Cleaning Ltd had replaced their existing underbody weighing system with both PurGo and VWS ENVIROWEIGH. Jamey also paid a visit to the Installation Factory in Chesterfield, where the vehicle was installed and calibrated on site.

PurGo provides businesses with the means to manage all waste collection and management processes end-to-end, with beneficial features such as an integrated sales CRM tool, map-based transport planning where drivers’ workloads and routes can be planned – transforming fleet efficiency – and even live exception reporting, which allows operators to identify failing jobs or issues due to the live monitoring and reporting of exceptions. With the driver friendly mobile solution, accessibility is easier than ever with PurGo, complete with SatNav, GPS tracking, and multiple other features that assist in simplifying operational activity for the driver. Key data is sent back to transport and customer service teams in real-time, presenting a complete overview of business activity. PurGo also enhances the pay-by-weight feature of bin weighing systems (in this case ENVIROWEIGH), offering the ability to raise invoices for all services including excess weight data. Together, the two products perfectly complement one and other and have even helped FCS Cleaning Ltd to win more customer contracts.
